A Beginners guide to the BBC Sherlock fandom-

(I’ve been sitting on this for a while, then I saw a post that an introduction to a fandom would be a good thing, so I thought ‘why not?’ This post is also directed at the Tumblr fandom, and any information may vary, as regards livejournal, etc)

First up, welcome to the fandom! We are very please to have you and most of us would be very happy to help you out with anything we can or just have a chat! If you’ve just arrived, you’ve likely got excess feels, and we are here for you!

BBC Sherlock is occassionally referred to as Beeblock, and here in the fandom you’ll find enough talent, insanity and shoulders to cry on to tide you over until the next season.

We basically have one rule- respect each other. Here in the fandom, we are generally a fairly understanding bunch, and respect each others ships and opinions. This is not to say we are a perfect fandom. Wank happens (notable cases are opinions about ‘Elementary’ and ‘Thrillerbatch’ (covered below). The rule of the fandom is summed up best in the Fandom pledge of kindness by the lovely Valeria2067-

At some stage our fandom somehow ended up married to the Doctor Who fandom (or possibly in a polygamous relationship with the Whovians and the Supernatual fandom, so you will come across a multitude of references to Wholock or Superwholock) (In fact, crossovers are quite a popular thing)

The main pairing in this fandom is of course Sherlock and John, but here is a place where you may also ship to your heart content. While there are some that only like to ‘ship’ in a purely platonic way, some also basically ship all the ships it is possible to ship, including Jumper/scarf, two mugs, Moriarty/and as-yet-nonexistent character, Sherlock/door, and pretty much every combination of characters you can think of. There is even the Sherlock game of battleships

(I’ve included whatever I could think of, if there’s anything I’ve missed, let me know. And Please understand that this is all subjective and you don’t have to agree with anything I say)

Mind of a Sherlock fangirl…

I cleaned it up a bit, and coloured…

Well! There it is- My first ‘proper’ digital drawing! I really like it…
(In fact, I liked it so much I redbubble’d it! Geep!…only now I can’t decide a colour…)

“This is D.I. Lestrade,” Annie showed her a picture on her phone of a roguish looking older man with grey hair. “He comes to Dad for help on his cases.”

“He’s dishy,” she said, with a grin.

Annie looked horrified. “He’s nearly sixty.”

A crossover with The Parent Trap, wherein John and Sherlocks’ have separated, then thier twin daughters meet at camp, and conspire to switch places…

Am having hard time preventing peals of laughter being heard by housmates at one in the morning…
